Event Overview

The second annual CEE Covered Bond Forum took place on Tuesday 23 May 2017. Co-hosted by the EBRD and the ECBC, the conference brought together issuers, investors and intermediaries to explore the opportunities in the growing CEE covered bond market.

The event was opened by András Simor, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at the EBRD, who gave a keynote address on the importance of covered bonds to the strength and development of capital markets in the CEE region.

Throughout the day, a series of in-depth panel discussions looked at the opportunities and challenges for the European covered bond market in the coming year, explored how to create a covered bond law which maximises benefits for all stakeholders and examined how existing covered bond markets adapt to the ever-evolving economic and regulatory environment.

The event also encompassed three country-specific workshops, focussing on the most recent developments in Poland, Turkey and Slovakia. Issuers from PKO Bank, Garanti Bank, Şekerbank and VUB shared their insights into the evolution of each of these growing markets.

Euromoney Conferences would like to thank our co-hosts, sponsors, speakers and attendees for supporting the event. We look forward to reconvening for the 2018 conference.
